 fractal:
A mathematical formula or algorithm that constitutes or defines an efficient way
of formulating computer graphics. Fractal graphics translate the natural curves
of an object into mathematical formulas, from which the entire image can later
be constructed. Fractals are self-similar in that any piece of the fractal
design contains a miniature of the entire design. A fractal is completely
described by (a) one piece (layer) of the design, and (b) a sublayer of the
design, which shows how contiguous pieces (layers) fit together. For this
reason, fractal patterns (designs) require very little computer storage space.
An example of a fractal is a fern leaf design.
Welcome to my fractal images page! I had
run across fractal images some time ago on the internet and was quite
intrigued by the colors and patterns that could be generated. I did not give
them much thought at the time because I was focusing my time on
building web pages and other graphic projects. Recently I decided to add
fractal imaging to my resume (I thought I would give it a shot). I was
quickly amazed at the variety of patterns that can be created. I think some
of these images look really cool. I hope you like them too.
I
have done quite a bit of research on the web regarding fractals and how to
create them. There was one site that was particularly helpful and inspiring
for me. They have a lot of very nice fractal images as well as tutorials and
information on software. After taking a look at my images, you might want to
